El proceso de creación del Pirate Lenormand ha sido una fusión de dos disciplinas diferentes y complementarias: la pintura y la escritura.
¿Por qué un cuaderno de bitácora? La voz del Capitán
Y os preguntaréis: ¿Por qué he escrito un cuaderno de Bitácora como si fuera el Capitán el que hablara?
Porque las ilustraciones contienen el mensaje directo de las cartas, pero conocer la experiencia que alguien puede tener sobre las cosas y sus vivencias enriquece mucho toda esa información, aportando detalles que jamás encontraremos en la imagen.
El límite de la imagen frente a la riqueza de la experiencia
Porque, ¿cómo pintas la desconfianza, más allá de representar a alguien con la mirada esquiva? Si hacía eso, las imágenes de Lenormand serían sustituidas por una sola definición, perdiendo toda su riqueza interpretativa.

For instance, how do you paint mistrust, beyond depicting someone with a shifty gaze? But if I did that, the Lenormand images would be replaced by a single definition, losing all their interpretative richness.
So, I decided the best approach would be to add the voice of an experienced sea Captain—one who looks inward from what each of the 36 cards represents, as well as the 4 extra cards that helped me fully convey what I wanted to transmit with this deck, all thanks to the life experiences of this Captain, who is me.
